I.Function
The function of the ultrasonic converter (ultrasonic transducer) is to convert electrical vibration into mechanical vibration.
This process is realized by means of the piezoelectric ceramic plates inside the housing (usually made of PZT4 and PZT8). Due to the inverse piezoelectric effect, these ceramic plates change their thickness when a voltage is applied. When alternating current is applied to the converter, the ceramic material expands and contracts, thereby generating vibration. If alternating current is applied within the natural frequency range of the converter, the converter will produce a sufficiently large amplitude and can be used as a pulse generator for the vibration unit.
Herrmann converters have rated frequencies of 20 kHz, 30 kHz and 35 kHz, with different insulation classes.
